This is a very early post (probably way to soon anyway, but…) in the [DEV] MycroftOS project blog series. MycroftOS is a bare minimal OS based on Buildroot which has only one purpose which is running Mycroft without any further additional packages and / or overhead. At the end of the project, it could be considered a productive environment type of OS to run and use Mycroft. Nothing more, nothing less…
No development tools are installed. Skills should be able to install using the right pip packages and requirements, but other then that, no other software can be (easily) installed.
The last few days whenever I had spare time I worked on the very first steps of creating a first initial bootable version. At this moment the code can produce a bootable image and all requirements are installed. HOWEVER, doing the testing work to see if it works, what works, what doesn’t etc etc. is the part that I am at right now.
Like I said, this very first blog post about that project is very early within the process and does not yet have any working and or tested end result as package. I just decided to blog about it quickly to raise awareness of it being in progress and perhaps others liking it, would like to join the development. If you would like to help out in any way, please reach out to me and we can see how we can be of assistance to each other.
Stay tuned for more. Hopefully sooner then later.
