Ordering some Goodies

As discussed in Part-2 of the [DIY] Home (Personal AI) Assistant blog post series we decided we needed some hardware to buy. Basically a Raspberry Pi, ReSpeaker 4-Mic Array and a nive looking case. Well, that’s what I did! Here is what I specifically ordered, where and a quick glance at all the parts.

I needed a Raspberry Pi including a proper power supply and SD card. The ReSpeaker 4-Mic array HAT and the nice looking Orbital case – Titanium white. In my search where to get them all, I ended up at KIWI Electronics. Why them? Well I guess they did their homework about Facebook paid advertisement because well, they kept comiing back at my screen left and right. They had all the goodies in stock, so… Pulled the triggered eventually. (Kudo’s for their marketing guy 😉 )

Raspberry Pi 3B

As discussed in the blog series I decided to go for the 3B not the 3B+. So this it the product I eventually added to the cart;

Raspberry Pi Power Supply 5.1V/2.5A – White – EU/UK/US/AU Plug

With the microphone array and possible other USB side hardware in the near future for all the Home Automation stuff we need a rather good amperage power supply;

Transcend 16GB microSD Ultimate 600x Class 10 UHS-I

There are many, MANY different quility SD cards out there. To be honest, I have no clue if the one I ordered is any good, but as it was recommended by the webshop I thought: Ah well let’s trust them for one time… If you don’t hear back from me anymore it is all good. If it isn’t I will report back of course;

ReSpeaker 4-Mic Array for Raspberry Pi

And as last, but not the least the Heart of the device. The ReSpeaker 4-Mic arroy HAT for the Raspberry Pi;

In the end shipping was free, so I ended up spending EUR 92,80 including taxes. Not real cheap, but certainly not very expensive as well. Below some pictures I took from the package as it arrived the day after;

Now I have to say, this does not yet include the Orbital case as I needed to order that separately from their own sales channels. Looking at that, for me here in The Netherlands shipping it either from Germany or United Kingdom becomes rather expensive. Shipping is about the same as the case itself. Doubling the price. Now I live close to the German border, so will figure out how to order it and got it delivered to one of the close by mail order pick up points. However, currently I am still “walking” around with a broken foot, which does not allow me to drive so will do that a bit later on in time.

Of course I am Dutch and ordered from a Dutch web shop. If you want to join me in my journey, I am sure you can find the same if not better deals at your own location.
